"I received from the Lord what I also handed on to you..." (1 Corinthians 11:23)
God created each human person to share in God's mission for the world. Through his life, death, and resurrection, Jesus showed us how to live this mission. Jesus even gives us specifics for this mission: "Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you" (Matthew 28:19-20)
Jesus calls us to share his message of love and compassion with the world. He gave us his Body and Blood in the Eucharist to nourish our spirits and strengthen us to live his message of love and compassion. When we receive the Body and Blood of Christ in Holy Communion, we should not only eat, but we must become what we eat. And when we become what we eat, we are compelled to hand on that which we have received.
Faith Chat: How do you hand on what you have received, that is, God's love shared in the Eucharist?
For Children: How do you help feed others, like your family, friends, and pets?
Faith Response: Go for a picnic. Pack a picnic basket and cooler and go to a park or the beach. As you eat and enjoy God's creation, talk about all of the wonderful things God has given to you. Pray a prayer of thanksgiving for all God's blessings.
Pray: Lord Jesus Christ, thank you for giving us your Body and Blood to nourish our spirits and strenthen us to share your Good News with those whom we meet. Amen.
