"Jesus, Son of David, have pity on me!" Bartimaeus, the blind man, calls out to Jesus.
The people around him say, "Hush up. He doesn't have time to bother with you."
Bartimaeus persists, "Jesus, Son of David, have pity on me."
When Jesus realizes that Bartimaeus is calling out to him, Jesus tells the people to, "Call him."
Bartimaeus persistence pays off. "What do you want me to do for you?" Jesus asks him.
"I want to see," Bartimaeus replies.
Simple words, "I want to see." Bartimaeus wanted physical sight, but in truth, he already had the best sight of all, recognition of Jesus as the Son of David, the Messiah, the One who could heal his eyes, his body, his soul.
Persistence. Confidence. May our prayer be just as persistent and confident as Bartimaeus.

Faith Response: Talk with your family about the Corporal Works of Mercy (see Matthew 25:31-46). Select one or two of these Works of Mercy to do this week.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, Son of David, help us to see you in our midst. Amen.
