The relationship between Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is a central mystery of our Christian faith. It is not a mystery to be solved, but rather it is a mystery to be embraced. We will never fully understand Three Persons in One Being, but we can strive to live the mystery.
The Holy Trinity is an intimate, loving relationship. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit move together in a love that is empowered by self-giving and mutual mission.
The Christian family exemplifies the Holy Trinity through its relationships of self-giving love and mutual mission. Family members live and move together in intimate love in the same way as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Faith Chat: What do you do, specifically, to live the Trinitarian image of self-giving love in your family and community?
Faith Response: As you leave for work or school or wherever you go this week, bless one another with the words, "God bless you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit," as you make the Sign of the Cross on each other's forehead.
Prayer: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, empower us so that we may embrace one another with the passion of your divine love. Amen.
