The two stories of Jesus’ healing in today’s Gospel from Mark remind us that Jesus will share his healing power with us if we but ask. Whether we reach out to Jesus silently in the depths of our hearts or fall at Jesus’ feet and ask others to pray for us, Jesus will share with us his healing power. Sometimes, though, that healing power is simply the ability to cope with the struggles and illnesses we face.
Our families exemplify Jesus’ love and healing for us. Through their care and comfort us, we experience the intimacy of Jesus’ healing power.
Faith Chat Question: Why do you think Jesus heals people? How do you reach out to Jesus when you need help?
Faith Response: Share your faith in the power of Jesus’ healing by praying for people you know who need God’s strength and healing in their lives. Name them aloud, and write their names on slips of paper and put them in a basket or prayer jar. Each day, have a family member hold the prayer jar in his/her hands as the family prays for the people named.
Pray: Lord Jesus, heal our pains, and give us strength in our struggles. Amen.
