We are God's children. Because we are God's own, God loves us totally, intimately, recklessly, to the point of Jesus, the Good Shepherd, dying on the cross in order that we might live eternally with God.
Parents are the reflection of God to their children. Like God, they love their children totally, intimately, and sometimes even recklessly, giving of themselves for the good of their children.
Faith Question: What qualities does the image of Jesus as the Good Shepherd suggest? How have you experienced God in this way?
Faith Response: Have some fun playing Sheep & Shepherds (a family tag game.) The parents are the Shepherds and the children are the Sheep. The Sheep run around as the Shepherds try to gather them in. As a Shepherd catches a Sheep, he/she hugs and kisses it.
Prayer: Good Shepherd, guide us in your love. Amen.
